Celeste Manno was found dead inside the house she shared with her mother on Umbria Road, Mernda, about 4.10 am today 16 Movember.

Police are investigating if a former work colleague with an infatuation could be involved in the alleged murder of a young woman found dead in her Melbourne home.

A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the Manno’s death.

Age

She was 23 years old.

Celeste Manno Found Dead

CCTV shows a dark coloured Peugeot leaving the street after Ms Manno is believed to have been killed.

The same car crashed in the Mernda Police Station car park a short time later.
Police are probing whether the man is a former work colleague of Ms Manno who developed an infatuation for her.

Bloodstains remain on a fence beside the home where friends and family gathered today to mourn the music lover and cheerleading fan who was only weeks away from celebrating her birthday.

Suspect Arrested

A 35-year-old man was arrested and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

He remains under police guard.

Education

Ms Manno had a degree in criminology and sociology and spent much of her spare time after university doing volunteer work and working at a call centre.

Career

She worked at a Mill Park call centre run by Serco Asia Pacific. The company’s chief executive Peter Welling said they were continuing to assist Victoria Police as they investigated the “circumstances of this heartbreaking tragedy”.

Police Report

Police confirmed a secondary crime scene had been established at the Mernda police station.

They would not say how the two sites were linked due to “operational reasons”.

Police said the exact circumstances surrounding the incident were yet to be determined, and the investigation was continuing.

Tribute

Friends have flooded social media paying tribute to Celeste after finding out about her death, describing her as the “kindest” and “brightest” person.

“Celeste Manno was the kindest, brightest, down to earth person, I was lucky to call a friend,” one person wrote on Facebook.

“She always knew how to light up a room with her bubbly, sweet nature. She was always selfless and always put everyone else first before herself.

He added “She was an absolute angel who didn’t deserve a tragic ending like this! The world has truly lost a ray of sunshine today. My condolences go out to her family. Rest In Peace, Celeste.”

Another friend wrote: “I will forever cherish the memories that we made and for the friendship that we gained.
