Incident Details
Aiden Leos was being driven to school by his mother at around 8.10 am on Friday.
The pair traveled down the northbound side of State Route 55 in Orange, southeast of Los Angeles, when a car supposedly cut her up.
Aiden’s mother gave the driver the finger in her rearview mirror, but as she moved over towards another lane to her right, a gunman – thought to have been sitting in the passenger seat of the suspect’s car – suddenly fired into their car, striking the boy in the back.
Heartbreakingly, Aiden’s final words were ‘Mummy, my tummy hurts.”
After pulling the car over, Aiden’s mother rushed to his side, cradling him in her arms.

An off-duty police officer stopped and performed CPR until paramedics arrived.
But sadly, Aiden passed away a short time later.
Family Statement
During a press conference on Friday, May 21, Aiden’s sister, Alexis, said: “She [their mother] had blood on her clothes and he [Aiden] started turning blue, and that’s when the ambulance took him, and that was the last time my mom saw him alive.
“Please help us find the people that did this to my little brother. He’s only six, and he was so sweet. He was a very loving boy, so please help us find who did this to him,” she pleaded tearfully.
“[My mom] had to hold her little boy as he died, so she is very distraught right now.”
Alexis said her brother was a “rare toddler” and would often come into her room to tell her how much he loved her.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family with funeral costs raised more than $39,000 (£27,500).
Police are now searching for a man, and a woman they believe is connected to the incident.
Police Report
On Friday evening, police had not released the name of any suspects they believed to be connected to the incident.
Speaking to KTLA-TV, California Highway Patrol Officer Florentino Olivera said: “It was an isolated road rage incident between the mom and another driver from a white sedan.
“Unfortunately, the child that was seated in the right rear seat was struck.”
Aiden was pronounced dead at Children’s Hospital Orange County.
“If your vehicle has a dashcam, we’re asking you, please call our CHP office in Santa Ana, provide that video,” Olivera added.
“If you were driving by, you saw something that was not right, call it in – even if it wasn’t something major – call our office. We want to hear from witnesses.”
