She is 40 years old.
When the 40-year-old was arrested, she told border officials she thought it was probably marijuana, but not heroin.
She said she only agreed to smuggle drugs to pay her daughter’s hospital bills.
The girl was born with a severe anorectal abnormality and needed continued surgery and medication.
Zainal was in despair and agreed to transport drugs to a highly sophisticated transnational union.
Every time she arrived, she would give the drugs to another woman, known as the “rich aunt,” in a hotel bathroom for about $ 155,000 a pack.
“I was vulnerable and, at the time, willing to do anything to be able to pay for the medical operations and expenses (of my daughter),” Zainal told Victoria County Court.
“At that time, I was just thinking about (my daughter) and my family. I didn’t think about what these drugs could do to anyone else, their family or their friends.
“I am deeply ashamed and sorry to be involved.”
She was arrested Thursday for a maximum period of nine and a half years.
Zainal Admitted Smuggling Heroin
Zainal admitted to bringing drugs to Australia at least 20 times in total.
But she has pleaded guilty to a combined charge of importing a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug on eight occasions.
Five heroin “tickets”, weighing 4 kg combined, were intercepted by the police.
Three others have passed.
Michael Cahill Statement
Judge Michael Cahill said the conditions that provoked Zainal to mail the medications merit some extravagance and pity.
“You functioned as a global messenger for an exceptionally complex transnational medication association. You have been painstakingly prepared to carry out your responsibility, utilizing codes and flight changes, to perform it multiple times, “the appointed authority said.
“In spite of the fact that you weren’t let you know were conveying heroin, you realized you were conveying controlled medications over the fringe and the individuals of Melbourne paid countless dollars for them.
The medication pack was driven by Melbourne’s “Sovereign of Richmond” Michelle Ngoc Tran, who is anticipating conviction for her wrongdoings.
Zainal must serve four years and nine months before being considered for probation.
