Her announcement on Twitter came hours after several Pakistani Tehreek-e-Insaf lawmakers withdrew their resignations from assemblies and ceased their boycott to participate in the election polls to select Pakistan’s new prime minister. To express her gratitude toward PTI leader Imran Khan, Dr Sania Nishtar said, “It was an honor to work under your leadership.”

As her Social Protection & Poverty Alleviation special advisor, she said that she was proud to have served the Prime Minister.

The Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), originally named the Benazir Income Support Program, was renamed Ehsaas Kafalat Program under the banner of Ehsaas Programs. The Ehsaas Kafalat Program includes the many social welfare initiatives introduced during the tenure of President of Pakistan, Imran Khan.

However, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the original name of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) will be restored instead of the new Ehsaas Kafalat Program. It bears mentioning that President of Pakistan Imran Khan’s administration introduced many changes to the old BISP system, including providing stipend to deserving beneficiaries.

The Finance Division states that the government will provide Rs144 billion to support relief programs. Additionally, the Prime Minister has announced Rs200 billion for daily wage workers, and provinces are looking into how they might provide that support to those in need. The Finance Division has not yet decided how to allocate those funds.

Officials running Ehsaas – a relief program that assists people affected by the virus – proposed giving an amount of Rs4,000 per month to poor people affected by the disease, but the Ministry of Finance disagreed with the plan, and decided to give a lump sum of Rs3,000 instead. Ehsaas officials have elected to give out Rs12,000 in lump-sum payments to eligible recipients.
