Rhiannon Parkinson Found £700 Cash
Parkinson saved a family’s Christmas after discovering the missing cash at a Sainsbury’s store in Crosby, Merseyside.
She spotted the wallet on the floor while on her way to school on December 9 – but wasn’t even tempted to keep the cash.
It was returned to its worried owners, who said Rhiannon saved their family’s Christmas – as it contained all their money for their children’s Christmas presents, the Liverpool Echo reports.
Rhiannon’s mum, Sarah Litherland, said billionaire tycoon Mr. Branson had his staff give her a surprise phone call earlier today after the story had “touched his heart”.
Richard Branson Statement
The 44-year-old mum said: “His assistant has just rung and said she’s with Richard Branson and he’s read the article and he’s very impressed.
“He said it touched his heart to see that there are still kind people out there especially in these hard times.
“And he wants to reward Rhiannon with a daily experience with Virgin worth £200.
“I had to explain to Rhiannon who he is. He wanted to speak to her but she was really shy saying ‘no no no’.”
Sarah said that her daughter is overjoyed by the Virgin boss’s kind gesture and she’s now trying to decide what to spend her experience day voucher on.
Since the story came out, Rhiannon has received some gifts from people who were also impressed by her honesty.
She received a £20 voucher from Sainsbury’s which her mum said: “really made her feel good about herself”.
She has also received a £20 Amazon voucher and two anonymous donations of £100 all from strangers who read her story.
