Rene Latimore Wiki – Rene Latimore Biography
Rene Latimore was went missing three weeks ago from Koumala, near Mackay. Her body was believed to be found on the property where detectives launched a homicide investigation.
A local councilor only recently bought a house in central Queensland where a missing woman’s body was located on Sunday, but police said the man was not being investigated as part of the suspected murder.
She was 31 years old.
Latimore was reported missing from Koumala, south of Mackay, earlier this month. Police said her family was away during that time and reported her missing once they returned.
Officers investigating her disappearance found a body on a Koumala property at the weekend where she had been living with her family.
Detective Inspector Tom Armitt said police had still not been able to formally identify the remains.
“However, we strongly believe the person we’ve located to be Rene Latimore,” he said.
“Indications are her death will be treated as suspicious.”
Emergency services spent several days searching for the 31-year-old, who was last seen in the Illbilbie area on August 9 but was not reported missing until August 18.
Detective Inspector Tom Armitt said DNA testing would need to be conducted to confirm the identity but he was confident it was Ms Latimore, who was reported missing on August 18 and hadn’t been seen since August 9.
“It would appear the deceased has been deceased for quite a period of time and we will rely on DNA evidence,” he told reporters on Monday.
The detective refused to reveal details about the nature of the suspected crime but said his team would assume the mother of a 14-year-old boy was murdered.
“Due to circumstances, we are conducting a homicide investigation,” Inspector Armitt said.
“I can’t reveal the reasons at this particular point in time, but indications are that her death is going to be treated as suspicious.
Inspector Armitt pleaded with anyone who had any contact with Ms Latimore in the lead up to her disappearance, including any “fears or concerns” she may have expressed.
“It’s vitally important that we know,” he said.
Ms. Latimore was last seen at an address on Schirmer Rd at about 9 am on August 9.
Police and family publicly stated they were concerned for her because she had a medical condition.
