Precious Stephens is a Louisiana 911 Operator. New Orleans police continue to search for a 911 dispatcher accused of purposely hanging up on callers in August.

On Thursday, officials announced in a statement on Facebook that they have “obtained an arrest warrant for Stephens on charges of malfeasance in office and interfering with an emergency communication.”


She is 25 years old.

Crime Details

The police department revealed the 911 operator was allegedly “disconnecting 911 calls deliberately without obtaining necessary emergency information or relaying such emergencies to the other dispatchers for aid” while working with the Orleans Parish Communications District.

Officials say a report was taken on Aug. 23, and as of Thursday, Stephens remained at large.

The intercepted calls occurred during Stephens’ shifts on Aug. 20, and Aug. 21, police told NOLA.com in a statement. According to the outlet, she was fired from her job, and her superiors reported her to the police.

“(The district) has and will continue to cooperate with the investigation into this matter and is dedicated to providing any and all assistance to aid in (the) efforts,” a statement obtained by the outlet read.

Police Report

On August 24, the district announced that Stephens disconnected numerous 911 callers before transferring them or getting emergency information.

Nola.com reports that the district investigated a “quality of a random set of calls” inspection. The district spotted problems with Stephens’ work during her shifts on August 20 and August 21.

After the investigation, Stephens was fired immediately, and a report was filed with police. As of Friday, she remains at large.
