Pedro Garcia is a California police officer who reportedly saved a man who was trapped in a burning car on Sunday.
The San Jose Department posted a video on their Twitter page, which shows officer Garcia pulling an unidentified man from a burning vehicle on Highway 101. Garcia told KGO that he was driving on the highway when he spotted the car and decided to intervene.
His age is unclear.

Bravery under fire

According to SJPD, rookie officer Pedro Garcia “without hesitation… did not hesitate to risk his life and pull the man from the burning car. In this job, seconds count, and combined with bravery, can save lives.”
“Heros walk amongst us. There is no training for a moment like this. We put our lives on the line to save others. Fantastic job Officer Garcia!” SJPD tweeted.
Still, images from Garcia’s body camera show the man’s shoes were melted off. Garcia told KTVU that the man was going in and out of consciousness as he dragged him out of the car.
“I was like, ‘Hey bro, let go, your car is on fire!'” the officer recalled. “I’m explaining to him, ‘You’re going to be OK, bro, you’re going to be OK. They’re going to check you out.'”
KTVU reported that the man was hospitalized for his injuries, which were not disclosed. Garcia was not injured.
