Pat Collins is a general assignment reporter for NBC News4, covering breaking news and feature reports. Collins is well known for his hard-hitting and breaking news coverage, but he’s also a great feature reporter. You can check out some of the funniest videos on his official Facebook page.

On one of his recent coverage, he reports a vandal with a bone to pick spray-painted “Mike is a cheater” on an SUV parked in Northeast D.C.


He is currently 75 years old.


Collins is a graduate from The University of Notre Dame du Lac, known simply as Notre Dame or N.D., a private Catholic research university in Notre Dame, Indiana.


According to his biography, Collins joined News4 in 1986. Before that, he worked for WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C., and WLS-TV in Chicago. He spent seven years as a general assignment, investigative and feature reporter for WDVM-TV (now WUSA-TV) in Washington, D.C.

He began his career as a print journalist working first for the Washington Daily News and later for the Washington Star. Collins began writing for newspapers at the age of 15, and, by the age of 17, he had a regular column in the Daily News.

Collins has earned 10 Emmy awards, two Clarion awards, and a Chesapeake Associated Press Award for “Best Feature Reporter.”

He was inducted into The Silver Circle by the National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for more than 25 years of television service in Washington, D.C.

After graduating from Notre Dame in 1968, Collins spent a year in Vietnam.

Wife & Children

He is a native Washingtonian and lives in the city with his wife Emily and three children. Emily is from Philadelphia and was born in a big family, seven kids, as per an interview with OurTown.
