In the shooting that killed Bradley police officer Marlene Rittmanic and wounded another, he was taken into custody in Manchester, Indiana, Friday morning, authorities said.
Darius Sullivan was arrested Friday morning after a search warrant was executed at bout 9:30 a.m. at home in the 1000-block of Bond Street in North Manchester, Indiana.

Shot Illinois Police Sergeant
Wednesday night, Bradley Police Sgt. Marlene Rittmanic and her partner responded to a call Wednesday night of dogs barking in an unattended car in the parking lot at the Comfort Inn off of Route 50, the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office said. They went to the hotel room where the car’s owner was staying when police say the people inside the room began attacking the two officers, shooting them.
Rittmanic, 49, was killed, and her partner, 27-year-old Tyler Bailey, was badly hurt. Bailey was transported to Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, where he underwent surgery for severe head injuries and remains in critical condition Thursday at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Rittmanic first became an officer in 2000 with the Iroquois County Sheriff’s Department. She had been with the Bradley Police Department for 14 years, and her niece said she was just five years away from retirement. She leaves behind her wife, Lynette Stua.
Darius Sullivan Arrested
Sullivan and another person from Kankakee were taken into custody without incident, police said. . Arrangements are being made to transport Sullivan back to Kankakee County, Illinois State Police said.
A second suspect, Xandria A. Harris, 26, remains at large. Authorities said that Harris is believed to have been in the room with Sullivan at the time of the shooting.
Arrest warrants were issued for both Sullivan and Harris. The sheriff’s office was offering a $25,000 reward for information that led to the arrest of Sullivan.
