Maria Guadaloupe Romo was a missing buzzards woman. The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday that Maria was found in the canal Friday afternoon.
Indian River County deputies investigating a “creepy amount” of buzzards in a neighbourhood near Gifford found the body of a woman who’d missed more than a week.
She was 33 years old.

Initial reports indicated that Romo was pregnant, but deputies later said, “there is no evidence to support that claim.”
Romo was last seen on July 17 in Vero Beach, about three miles south of Gifford.
Police have not released the cause of death or any other details.
Deputies were called to the area of 28th Avenue near 41st Street after someone reported a “creepy amount” of buzzards in the neighbourhood.
When deputies arrived, they found a body in the water of the nearby canal.
According to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, Romo was 2 1/2 months pregnant.
Detectives are investigating her death as a homicide.
Deputies discovered the body in the water around 5:43 p.m. Friday after someone called to report a “creepy amount” of vultures in the neighbourhood.
Carson said the investigation is ongoing, but investigators believe Rosier is the only suspect identified in this case. Sheriff’s officials initially reported that Romo was more than two months pregnant but later determined there was no evidence to support that after finding her body, Carson said.
