Madison Cassidy Moore is a North Carolina woman who allegedly left a 5-month-old in the car for hours, is charged with manslaughter.
She was charged Thursday with involuntary manslaughter after her 5-month-old, who she allegedly left in a car for hours, died.
She is 26 years old.
Police were called to a home in Statesville, about 40 miles north of Charlotte, on Sunday for a 5-month-old in respiratory distress, Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell said in a statement.
When deputies arrived, Troutman Fire and Iredell County EMS were already on scene, Campbell said. The child was pronounced dead at home.
An autopsy performed on the baby Tuesday found that the cause of death was environmental hyperthermia.
Madison Cassidy Moore Arrested
According to a police statement, the baby’s mother, Madison Cassidy Moore, told authorities she had left the child in a car seat in her car for several hours Sunday.
Moore was arrested Thursday and charged with felony involuntary manslaughter, police said.
She is being held at the Iredell County Detention Center on a $75,000 bond, Campbell said. It is unclear if she has a lawyer.

Iredell Sheriff Darren Campbell said a detective obtained the warrant based on evidence gathered at the scene and the autopsy on the baby.
The autopsy, conducted earlier this week, points to environmental hyperthermia — an abnormally high body temperature — Campbell said. Investigators say Moore told them the baby was left in a car seat, inside a car, for several hours.
Deputies and Troutman Fire-Rescue and Iredell EMS personnel responded Sunday afternoon to a call about a child in respiratory distress at a home on Old Mountain Road, where Moore lives.
