Jennifer Sewell, a missing Fort Hood soldier who was last seen leaving the Texas post-Thursday afternoon, has been found safe.
She was last seen leaving her barracks around 4 p.m. Thursday, and no one has heard from her since.
Now, she is said to be accounted for and with extended family. Leadership with her chain of command spoke to Sewell’s family around 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, and confirmed her safety.
Her age is unclear.
Fort Hood Soldier Missing
According to NBC News, Sewell was seen leaving her on-post barracks at about 4 p.m. Thursday, the Fort Hood Directorate of Emergency Services said.
She was reported missing when she didn’t report to work and failed to respond to her family, superiors, or law enforcement calls.
Sewell is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall with brown hair and brown eyes. Officials did not disclose other information.
Emergency Services said they don’t know why Sewell left Fort Hood.
Fort Hood officials said Pfc. Jennifer Sewell has been found safe after she was reported missing earlier this week.
On Sunday evening around 7 p.m., leaders from the base say they could speak with Sewell’s family, who confirmed she was safe.
Officials say they are now communicating with family members while waiting for Sewell to return to base safely.
“Pfc. Sewell is a valued member of our team, and our number one priority is ensuring her safe return,” said Ltc. Octavia Davis. “We are in regular contact with her family and will provide any assistance she and her family may need to return to Fort Hood.”
