Jayden McCarthy Wiki – Jayden McCarthy Bio
Jayden McCarthy is a teenage nursery assistant who is accused of raping a three years old girl. He was accused of three child rapes and 13 sexual assaults. McCarthy denies the charges, which are all said to have happened in a nursery
He had to be interviewed by police about the incident using gingerbread man-style dolls. The toddler was shown a gingerbread girl with long hair and a boy with no hair, the Exeter Crown Court trial of Jayden McCarthy heard today.
He is 18 years old.
In a video interview shown to the jury, the little girl, who was three at the time of the alleged offense in July 2019, was asked about telling her mummy that ‘someone has been naughty at nursery.’
The court heard the answer was ‘Jayden,’ and the child was asked: ‘What did he do that was naughty?’
She was asked: ‘Did he put a nipple in your mouth?’
The police said the child gave a ‘little nod’ to that question before she showed on the gingerbread boy where the nipple was – the court heard it was a word she used to describe a penis.
Two video interviews lasting 33 minutes were played before police officers concluded with them saying the child was ‘not saying anything to us.’
Jurors have been told McCarthy carried out a series of sex attacks on very young children at the family-run nursery in Torquay, Devon.
McCarthy Denies The Charges
He denies three charges of raping a child and 13 counts of sexually assaulting a child under 13.
McCarthy, now 18, is alleged by the prosecution to have committed the attacks on eight children aged between two and four in 19 days in July 2019.
He is also accused of raping a boy repeatedly over several months in 2014 and 15.
The jury was told McCarthy began working at the nursery in March 2019, and references were checked, and checks were made with the barring service.
The alleged sex attacks only came to light when the three-year-old rape victim told her mother that McCarthy had put his ‘nipple in my mouth’.
Her parents contacted the nursery, which has since closed, and McCarthy, from Brixham, Devon, was suspended.
The police were also contacted, and they examined 250 hours of CCTV from the nursery.
Prosecutor Jason Beal said: ‘The review of the CCTV did reveal other matters of concern. Within that footage, 13 incidents were identified in which the defendant was caught on CCTV sexually assaulting children.
‘There were eight children involved and they were all aged between two and four years old.’
He said the alleged abuse happened very quickly while others played out over a more extended period, and some involved the use of suntan cream being rubbed on to the children.
McCarthy denied to police ever touching a child inappropriately or for sexual gratification. His trial continues.
