Fantahun Woldesenbet is Identified as Frederick, Maryland Shooting Suspect. He was a Navy Sailor. Authorities say a Navy medic shot and critically wounded two U.S. Navy sailors at a Maryland business park before fleeing to a nearby Army base where he was shot and killed.

Incident Detail
The shooter went into a business at Riverside Tech Park, causing people inside to flee, Frederick Police Chief Jason Lando said.
It was later confirmed that the shooting took place inside of a military institution that was tied to the Navy.
Lando also confirmed that after the shooting the suspect drove about 10 minutes to Fort Detrick and was killed when he broke into the Fort Detrick base.

The US Navy tweeted earlier: “US Navy can confirm there was an active shooter incident at Fort Detrick, MD involving US Navy Sailors. We will continue to update with additional details as the situation evolves.”
Later, the Navy tweeted that the “active shooter incident” involved US Navy Sailors.
“The shooter, a Navy Hospital Corpsman, is deceased,” the Navy wrote.
Frederick police confirmed that personnel at the base shot the suspect and he was “down” and despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The base’s official Twitter page confirmed that Fort Detrick police “neutralized” the shooter.
Fantahun Woldesenbet Maryland Shooting Suspect
Frederick police and Fort Detrick officials identified the shooter as 38-year-old Fantahun Girma Woldesenbet, a petty officer third class assigned to Fort Detrick who lived off base. Frederick Police Chief Jason Lando said Woldesenbet used a rifle in the shooting.
He says detectives are still trying to determine a possible motive. Brigadier General Michael J. Talley of Fort Detrick says investigators are looking into whether Woldesenbet knew the victims. He says the victims are both sailors assigned to the base.
Prior to Woldesenbet being identified by authorities, the U.S. Navy confirmed on Twitter that “there was an active shooter incident at Fort Detrick, MD involving U.S. Navy Sailors.”
“The shooter, a Navy Hospital Corpsman, is deceased. We will continue to update with additional details as the situation evolves,” the tweet added.
Police Report
According to police, the shooting took place in the northeast side of the city, about a four-mile drive east from the US Army Fort Detrick base
Frederick, Maryland, is some 50 miles northwest of Washington, DC.
Fredrick Community College was quickly put on lockdown following the reports of an active shooter.
The lockdown was lifted a short while later as FCC asked their students to continue to follow lockdown protocol, however, they stated there is “no imminent threat on FCC campus.”
“Please continue with lockdown protocol. There is no imminent threat on FCC campus but we are continuing to monitor the situation,” FCC tweeted.
Maryland Governor Larry Hogan has been briefed on the situation, his communications director confirmed.
