Ella Emery Wiki – Ella Emery Biography

‘Beautiful and lovely’ Ella Emery took her own life after her fears boyfriend was cheating. Her body was found at home she shared in Milnsbridge, Huddersfield, with Jack Freeth, a Kirklees Council heating engineer, just before 8 am on Saturday, June 15, 2019

She was 27 years old.

Incident Details

An inquest at Bradford Coroner’s Court heard Ella, a legal secretary for solicitors Eaton Smith, and a part-time eyelash technician had a history of anxiety.

Assistant coroner Anglea Brocklehurst heard evidence that the 27-year-old had attempted to take her own life in a previous relationship.

The court heard the couple had a fiery relationship, with Ella annoyed at Jack for going out drinking with his friends while she wanted him to stay in more at the home they had bought together.

She worried about money and was also stressed by caring for her grandparents, whom she visited regularly, Yorkshire Live reports.

On the night before her death, Jack had gone for drinks at a local pub to celebrate a friend’s birthday while she had stayed home.

Later that night, she began to harbor suspicions that it was not just a boy’s night out and young women might be present.

She feared Jack might be talking to them and, when he returned home, used his phone in the early hours to text another woman pretending to be him to see what she could discover.

But Jack, who was 24, at the time of her death, said he would never make contact with other women and told the hearing: “I loved that girl to bits.”

The court heard he was initially arrested on suspicion of her murder as West Yorkshire Police began a homicide inquiry.

But he gave police a detailed account of what had happened that night. Then, after no evidence was found of a struggle, the Senior Investigating Officer, Supt Mark Swift, ordered his release and said there would be no criminal investigation.

Mrs. Brocklehurst said Ella’s death was tragic and that as a young girl, she had been fearless and outgoing and a protector of her older brother Ronnie who had been bullied.

Later, she said that: “She found herself in a relationship with an older man who tried to control her.

“She found the strength to leave him, but she began to doubt her self-worth. She took an overdose.

“She formed a relationship with Jack, and her sensitive, emotional triggers were faithfulness and loyalty.

“She enjoyed decorating her new house, but she became distressed by Jack’s going out with his friends regularly leaving her behind.

“In an earlier relationship in 2016, she attempted to take her own life. This final attempt happened when her partner was asleep and unable to help her.

“That evening, she interpreted events that she thought she was being rejected. First, there was her clandestine use of Jack’s phone in the early hours.

“None of us can know what was in Ella’s mind and never will, but I am satisfied that she couldn’t continue with her life despite the love and care of so many people around her.”

She concluded that Ella took her own life.
