Daffney Unger, whose real name was Shannon Spruill and who was a former WCW star, is dead, according to the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner’s office.

Spruill has died with the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner’s office in Georgia. In a phone call, the official spokeswoman told Heavy that Spruill was found deceased “at her residence in the early morning hours of September 2. She said that the office is not yet releasing the cause of death or manner of death or additional details.

Age

She was 46 years old.

Death Cause

The former WCW and TNA Wrestling star – who worked as an on-screen manager and in-ring competitor herself – has passed away after making concerning statements during an Instagram Live this week.

On Thursday (02.09.21), her friend Lexie Fyfe tweeted: “We are unfortunate to have to announce the passing of Shannon Spruill aka Daffney Unger.

“I will miss you my logical sister from another mister.”

Her mother added on Facebook: “It is with great sadness I have to let you know that my daughter Shannon Spruill … Scream Queen Daff, passed away suddenly last night. Absolutely heartbroken.”

Her cause of death is yet to be confirmed.

In the live stream on Wednesday (01.09.21), Unger was holding what appeared to be a small gun, and she was seen crying.

According to TMZ, although the cause of death is unclear, Unger posted “a very disturbing video to her social media page” before she died.

TMZ reported that the Instagram story video indicated Unger might be suicidal. “Do you guys not understand that I am all alone? Do you not understand that?” she said. The video is no longer visible on her Instagram page.

In the video, which Heavy has watched but decided not to share, she is wrapped in a blanket. “I’m so sorry. I love you,” she says.

In another video clip, she says, “The most important thing to remember is that CTE and head injuries, um, they can only really now be, they can only now be diagnosed after you are dead. So I don’t want to do anything to hurt my brain/ I want it to be studied; I want the future generations to know don’t do stupid sh** like me.”

Tributes

People have now filled her top post with hurtful comments. They include, “I’m heartbroken. Such a beautiful soul. May you RIP ❤.”

A man wrote, “Just found out that my friend has passed away we met at w c w she was one of the most beautiful human beings I have ever known inside and out. We became very good friends and had a friendship that has lasted decades. She was so incredibly talented such a beautiful spirit such a beautiful human being I have just broken right now I love her so much when my wife first met her the first time on the show she instantly fell in love with her as well because she is such an amazing human being I am going to miss you so much I am so thankful privileged and honored to have shared a friendship with you for so many years I love you this one hurts so much I hope you are at peace my beautiful friend I will always treasure the Friendship we have you are a once-in-a-lifetime kind of person.”
