A Birmingham police spokesman said the shooting came as officers searched for a suspect in an earlier shooting on Richard Arrington Jr. Boulevard that left a man and woman dead. Sgt. Rod Mauldin said a tactical team was attempting to execute a search warrant at an apartment when officers “were immediately met by gunfire.”
