Ashlynn Wells and Desmond Wells are missing from Rusk; Texas is believed to be in grave or immediate danger. The Department of Public Safety needs the public’s help locating two children missing from East Texas.
An Amber Alert was issued at about 5:20 a.m. Tuesday for siblings.
Age
Ashlynn is 10-year-old and Desmond is 11 years old.
Missing
The pair was last seen in the 1200 block of US-84 west in Rusk, Texas, around 1:15 p.m. Monday.
Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies believe the children are with 32-year-old Jesse Ray Schmidt.
Desmond was last seen wearing a blue and black t-shirt, grey shorts, and wolverine hiking boots. Officials say he is a white male, 5’5″, 154 pounds, with blond hair and brown eyes.

Ashlynn was last seen wearing a peach t-shirt, peach shorts, and grey and pink Nike shoes. She is described as a white female, 5’2″, 109 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes.
Schmidt is described as a white male, 5’10”, 160 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. It is unclear how Schmidt knows the children or if he is related to them.
DPS officials say Schmidt is driving a black 2012 Honda Civic with Texas license plate number BNX6155.
Amber Alert
A statewide AMBER Alert was issued for Ashlynn and Desmond out of West Rusk County, Texas, at 5:55 a.m. on August 31. Law enforcement officials said the children are in grave danger.
According to the alert, the children were last seen around 1:15 p.m. Monday, August 30, near the 11200 block of Hwy 84 West in Rusk, about an hour south of Tyler.
