Helping Ethan Parents
According to a report on Sunday, a Detroit artist has been identified as the man who helped hide the parents of Ethan Crumble, a Michigan High School shooting suspect, from the police.
Andrzej Sikora, 65, allegedly allowed James and Jennifer Crumble to hide in the basement of an art studio in Motor City, WJBK-TV reported.
Detroit Police Chief James White said he did not enter. “Someone let them in.”
Skora has not been charged in the case, but authorities believe she sheltered Crumbles when police began searching for the couple.
Clarence Das, the artist’s attorney, told WBK that his client “volunteered with the police after Crumbles was arrested and charged.”
“He maintains his innocence throughout the process and is cooperating fully with law enforcement agencies to assist in their investigation,” Das said.
Police are still trying to establish a relationship with the couple.
The search for Crumbles began Friday after Oakland County prosecutors issued an arrest warrant for the murder.
Tuesday’s shooting killed four students and injured seven others, and authorities said Ethan Crumble used a 9mm pistol bought by his father.
Auckland County Prosecutor Karen MacDonald said the parents of the 15-year-old were brought to the school for an appointment after two “disturbing” incidents involving their son just hours before the shooting, but they did not. He refused to take her home with him.
Authorities say about three hours later; he opened fire on a crowded school hall.
The parents of the alleged assailant were taken into custody by Detroit police on Saturday, and each was placed on 500,000 bonds in the same jail as their son.
Ethan Crumble is being held without bail on seven first-degree murders, terrorism, and manslaughter
