According to Shasta County Jail computer records, Alexandra Souverneva was arrested and charged with arson-structure-forest land and was being held on $100,000 bail.
Workers at a nearby quarry reported seeing a woman acting strangely and trespassing in the area in Shasta County where the fire started Wednesday afternoon, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said in a statement Thursday.

The fire started Wednesday evening in a remote canyon on property accessed through JF Shea and Mountain Gate Quarries. Earlier in the day, employees reported seeing a woman trespassing on the property and acting irrationally, Cal Fire said.
Investigators said around 8 p.m. Wednesday, a woman, later identified as Souverneva, walked out of the brush near the fire line and sought medical treatment. She was dehydrated.

Later, Souverneva was interviewed by Cal Fire law enforcement officers, who gathered information that led them to believe she was responsible for the fire, Cal Fire said in a news release. Cal Fire did not provide more details on the information that was gathered.
Cal Fire officials said the charge against Souverneva will receive an enhancement due to the declared state of emergency California is under because of wildfire danger.
Alexandra Souverneva Arrested
Souverneva was taken away from the fire line and medically evaluated and treated.
After being interviewed by Cal Fire law enforcement officers, officers believed Souverneva was responsible for causing the fire. She was arrested, then transported, and booked into the Shasta County Jail.
The case is being submitted to the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office, recommending Souverneva be charged with arson to wildland. The charge receives an enhancement due to the declared state of emergency in California due to wildfire danger.
