Aaron Morgan is a Louisiana man in custody after allegedly stabbing his grandmother to death, injuring his mother, and shooting three people while trying to steal their vehicles.
East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s deputies said that Morgan was shot twice by deputies when he tried to flee on foot after abandoning his stolen vehicle, WBRZ reported. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries and will be charged with 78-year-old Dianne Gafford’s murder, among other charges, when he’s released from the hospital.

Incident Details
Deputies said Morgan’s spree began Sunday morning at a house in the Wimbledon neighborhood, where Morgan stabbed his grandmother and mother. The mother has not been identified.
After the stabbings, he fled the scene in his grandmother’s car, driving to the nearby Highland Marketplace shopping center, where he tried to dump his grandmother’s car and steal another, KATC reported. He shot a man while trying to steal his truck and two women while attempting to take their vehicle, East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff Sid Gautreaux. Then he found a car running with the keys inside and took off in that.
Arrested
Deputies spotted him a short distance away and pursued him until he abandoned the vehicle and took off on foot. When he pointed his gun at the deputies, they opened fire, Gautreaux said.

Morgan, who remains hospitalized after being shot following Sunday’s police pursuit, will now be charged with his grandmother’s death and numerous other criminal offenses, investigators said.
Criminal Record
The man who deputies say killed his grandmother, stabbed his mother, and shot three strangers Sunday was charged in 2011 with superficial criminal damage to property, court records show.
In that case, he spray-painted graffiti on the side of the bus at Life Tabernacle Church, a probable cause report shows.
Besides that encounter with police ten years ago, Aaron Morgan, 28, had only traffic infractions on his criminal record in East Baton Rouge parish.
Morgan is then accused of leading police on a chase near the corner of Jefferson Highway at Bluebonnet Boulevard. After he exited the vehicle, he allegedly tried to carjack someone else. He then jumped a nearby fence and pointed a gun at police, authorities said.
Deputies then shot him twice. He was wounded and transported to a hospital. No one else was injured at that scene.
Police Report
The three people who were shot at the shopping center are in stable condition. He said that after a doctor and nurses from the Ochsner Urgent Care facility in the shopping center treated them until ambulances arrived.
Police have not indicated a motive for the violence. Gafford would have celebrated her 79th birthday on Thursday.
